Break Options Follow
Whether your breaks are paid, unpaid, or even if you want to set up an automatic addition, uAttend has you covered, review the information below to find the right fit for your business needs.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The clocking rounding rules set at the department level will apply to all clockings, including break and lunch. If this is not appropriate for your organisation, you may wish to disable this feature.
Notes:
- Supervisors can be configured with permissions to view and/or edit departments. Their responsibility can also be limited to certain departments.
- Department-level settings and rules are inherited from the employee's home department.
- Break settings will not be applied to clockings that were manually added to the timecard.
Automatic Paid Breaks
To configure automatic paid breaks:
- Log in to the uAttend cloud portal as an administrator or supervisor (with permissions).
- Click on the Departments tab.
- Click on the name of the intended department or click the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner of the window to search for a department.
- Click the EDIT button on the line for the Paid Break/Duration option.
- Click the drop-down menu and select the intended threshold option (listed below) when the paid break addition will be applied.
- After 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5 hours worked
- Click the drop-down menu and select the intended duration option (listed below) for the paid break addition to be applied.
- Add 10, 15, 20, 30, 42, 45, 60, 90 minutes
- Click the SAVE button.
Clocked Breaks
To configure clocked breaks:
- Log in to the uAttend cloud portal as an administrator or supervisor (with permissions).
- Click on the Departments tab.
- Click on the name of the intended department or click the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner of the window to search for a department.
- Click the EDIT button on the line for the Add Up To option in the Break Clocks section.
- Enter the duration of the paid break and the remainder of the time away on break will be deducted from the timecard.
- Click the SAVE button.
- Click the EDIT button on the line for the Break Lockout option (if applicable).
- Click the drop-down menu and select the ENABLED option.
- Click the SAVE button.
- Click the EDIT button on the line for the Break Lockout Duration option.
- Enter the duration of the intended break lockout. Employees will receive a lockout message when attempting to return before this threshold.
- Click the SAVE button.
